Sofie Estolloso Hofmann Designs International

Sehdi.com is the web design entity of SEHDI which stands for Sofie Estolloso Hofmann Designs International. SEHDI was founded by Sofie Hofmann on February 18, 2001 out of her passion in doing websites since 1999.

Sofie Hofmann was born in the Philippines but now residing in Switzerland. She studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman taking up Bachelor of Science in Tourism. Her first computer was a laptop that her sister gave her in 1989. She got interested in it that she enrolled in basic computer courses at UP Computer Literacy Center and later at the Institute of Advanced Computer Technology. She also took a Computer Secretarial Course at Cora Doloroso Career Centre.

She worked as a Marketing Services Assistant with Training functions for Brittany Corporation and as a Sales Coordinator, Training Supervisor, Market Development Manager for Alfa Metalcraft Corporation Philippines.

Then she met Erich, they fell in love and got married. She came to Switzerland in 1997. The only way to be able to communicate to her family and friends in the Philippines aside from the telephone is through emailing. They decided to buy a computer and she eventually discovered the wonders of web design and development. She started designing websites as a hobby and just for the fun of doing it.

She created websites using page builders but she wanted to learn more, so she used Frontpage. She realized that it was not enough. She started surfing the net for more information. She learned HTML by reading tutorial courses in the net. Later on she applied XHMTL, CSS, CGI Scripts, Javascripts, Java Applets among others. She learned to do her own graphic designs and animations. From then on, she would always surf the net to gain more knowledge.

With so much interest, patience and perseverance, she eventually learned server scripting languages such as PHP (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) and ASP (Active Server Pages) to be able to create dynamic and interactive websites. She also learned SQL (Structured Query Language) to access database systems particularly MySQL and MS Access. She was able to apply her knowledge and even created her own CMS (Content Management System).

With the fast developments and changes in all these things involving web programming and designing, she keeps herself updated by reading a lot and discovering new things in the net. She knows that learning doesn’t stop there.

Her husband, Erich Hofmann works as a Senior IT Controller for an international company in Zurich area.
