Otherwise, I would be just fine with notepad too. I think that the main reason why I like textpad is because of its special expressions search ability, the ability to select a block of text with the mouse, the ability to select ascii or unicode and the ability to open a file in binary mode. Otherwise, I would be just fine with notepad too. Everyone has their best method of doing things and I personally think that you are doing the right thing by staying away from web designer applications.
